Banking AI moves toward proprietary intelligence
European financial institutions describe models trained around their own data and operations.

What happened
NVIDIA reported Revolut scaling its PRAGMA foundation model in production, Starling developing an intelligence layer on U.K. cloud infrastructure, and Santander adopting Kumo for structured financial data.
Why it matters
Bank-specific models can connect transaction history to operating decisions, but their usefulness depends on controls around access, drift, explanations and customer impact.
My take
I would evaluate the model as part of a regulated business process. Teams need clear ownership for outcomes and a route to challenge recommendations, especially when an automated decision affects a customer.

The report spans production systems, development projects and early adoption.
My operating checks
- 01Which customer decisions may the model influence or execute?
- 02How are drift, bias and adverse outcomes monitored?
- 03What evidence can an accountable owner produce when a decision is challenged?
Keep the context
Reported gains are workload-specific. Stripe's cited pipeline results came from offline testing.
Operating questions are proposed diligence, not claims of performed work. Analysis is prepared with AI assistance and checked against the named primary sources.
