Claude joins Google Antigravity's model choices
The integration brings a separate billing and administration decision.

Conceptual editorial illustration. Announcement dated 20 October 2026.
What happened
Google Cloud announced Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 in Antigravity 2, its CLI and IDE extensions. Administrators must enable access. Claude use is billed pay-as-you-go rather than drawn from Gemini Standard or Plus allowances; background Gemini activity uses its own first-party tokens.
Why it matters
Multiple models can improve task fit while making cost attribution harder. A team needs to know which model does foreground work and which services continue in the background.
My take
I would use a small set of task-specific evaluations and explicit spend limits before expanding access.

Available to Google Cloud customers with the required administrator settings and billing enabled.
My operating checks
- 01Which tasks benefit from switching models in the same workflow?
- 02Who sets and monitors the separate spending limits?
- 03How will reviewers compare correctness across model choices?
Keep the context
The integration does not establish one model as universally better or include Claude usage in Gemini plan quotas.
Operating questions are proposed diligence, not claims of performed work. Analysis is prepared with AI assistance and checked against the named primary sources.
